Her mother is Spanish-English. Taylor-Joy has five siblings four from her father's prior marriage. The family moved to Buenos Aires to Victoria, London at the age of six when Taylor-Joy was born. Taylor-Joy says the move to London was traumatizing and she was unable to take the time to learn English in order to prevent returning to Argentina. Hill House became her school that she chose after being ordered to move schools. After that, she attended Queen's Gate School and studied ballet, while also performing in school's plays. She dropped out of high school when she was 16 in order to focus on her acting career. Taylor-Joy always had a dream to be an actor. When she was 16, Sarah Doukas Founder of Storm Management gave her the opportunity to become a model.
